Stan's LS5 Project
Complete Frame off Restoration

In December 2000, Stan got the motor back from the machine shop following a complete rebuild. He then applied three light coats of Plasti-Kote Chevy Orange engine enamel to it. The exhaust manifolds were milled and then painted with 2 coats of POR-15 exhaust manifold paint.

He then installed a new Center Force Dual-Friction clutch. The M-22 Rock Crusher transmission (original) is currently in the rebuild shop getting new synchros, new sliders, new rear gears, bearings & seals. The original carb is also being rebuilt.

The front fenders were removed to align the doors properly with the rear quarters. While the fenders were off we were able to get the newly powdercoated core support bolted to the inner fenders so it's ready for the new radiator that's on order.

In late December 2000-early January 2001, Stan installed the new front lamp harness, newly rebuilt Rochester carb, the new alternator, new fan and the new radiator, among other things. He got the tranny back from the rebuild shop and installed that as well. In addition to the transmission work previously mentioned, he also had a new Hurst linkage made so that he wouldn't need to be concerned about missing third gear with the old Muncie when he 'stands on it'. He also had the yoke replaced due to scarring and took the occasion to install some new greasable U-joints.

Stan's not overlooking such details as a new rag joint for the steering column. Now, all that's missing on the front end is sway bars & shocks!
